About Maine Strong Memorial Foundation

About Us

The Maine Strong Memorial Foundation is a certified 501(c)(3) organization that was established in light of the mass shooting that took place in Lewiston, ME on October 25th, 2023. Two of the victims, Joe Walker and Ron Morin, were staples within the Lewiston/Auburn softball community. What started as a small softball tournament to raise money to support the families of all (18) victims and survivors, evolved into a (25) team tournament, sponsored by Hammond Lumber Company, to support the families of the (18) victims and survivors. Due to the rapid turnaround time required (two weeks), the Foundation partnered with the The Lewiston-Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, ensuring all funds raised were appropriately managed and successfully distributed directly to all families. Remarkably, our community came together to raise $207,853 through this event. This foundation stands as a testament to the strength, resilience, and compassion of our community, honoring those we lost while fostering hope and support for the future.

Our Mission

The Maine Strong Memorial Foundation seeks to provide temporary financial relief to Maine families that are touched by unexpected tragedy. We aim to raise funds through annual events to provide donation matches.

Our Vision

To honor the legacy of those we’ve lost by providing unwavering support during life’s unexpected challenges, ensuring their spirit lives on through our dedication, continuing to exemplify our community’s Lewiston Strong motto.
